About
The Northern Ireland Drinks Industry Group represents the main suppliers of alcohol to the wholesale market in NI.
Although we do not supply alcohol directly to the public, we recognise the social responsibility on all those involved in the alcoholic drinks trade to behave and to market their products responsibly.
NIDIG members are committed to working with government, the wider industry, the police, public bodies and the community to achieve this and to find innovative ways to help reduce alcohol misuse and minimise alcohol-related harm, and to ensure that alcohol is enjoyed sensibly and responsibly.
To that end, NIDIG currently sits on the DHSSPSNI’s New Strategy Development Steering Group (for alcohol and drugs), the Families, Children & Young People Working Group and the Alcohol Advisory Group. NIDIG is also working with the Federation of the Retail Licensed Trade, together with other industry and government stakeholders, to develop NI wide Responsible Retailing Standards for the sale and promotion of alcohol to the public, to discourage excessive consumption or misuse.
